We provide full continuing education services which, at the forefront, include Timely Reporting to State Licensing Boards and Professional Organizations which require providers to report.
In addition, Structural Dimension, Inc.'s staff tracks and maintains information on the licensing and certification rules and requirements for all of our licensed professions, making us an expert on license renewal and continuing education issues.

Structured Study: All 20 credits can be secured
via this methodology
College or university sponsored courses which monitor student performance.
Correspondence courses which monitor student performance.
Courses offered by a professional or technical organization.
Courses offered by architectural firms.
Courses organized by individual practitioners who come together for such purpose.
Courses offered by individuals or organizations who demonstrate the ability
to comply with the requirement of this rule.
Instructors, lecturers, panelists and discussion leaders for professional development
courses shall be credited for continuing professional education purposes at
twice the credit granted participants for the first presentation of a specific
course
or program, the same as the credit granted a participant for the second presentation
and none thereafter. Co-panelists and co-discussion leaders shall be credited
for the portion of specific courses or programs they must prepare to discuss
and lead as a co-panelist or co-discussion leader.
Self-Directed Study: Only four credits can be secured via this methodology
provided a log of learning is maintained for each of the following:
Visiting
architecturally significant sites (travel time not included).
Reading.
Utilization of video, cassettes or other instructive media.
Researching appropriate topics.
Participating in architectural study groups.

- Sponsor's list of attendees (signed by a person
in responsible charge of the activity).
These records must be retained for a period of three years following the
actual license renewal. Copies must be furnished to the board for audit purposes
if
requested.

Requirements 8 PDH biennially by February 28th of odd years.
Of the 8 hours:
- 4 must relate to your area(s) of practice, and
- 4 hours must be in the laws

All 8 hours can be taken in online courses.
(Note: Unlike some other professions,
at this time, Licensed Florida Engineers are NOT required to take a course
on the FL Advanced Building Code.)
Reporting Notice: Structural Dimensions,
Inc., as the provider, will report completed Laws and Rules courses using the
DBPR reporting tool and send attendance
sheets
for completed Areas of Practice courses. The licensed engineer will only need
to self-report their Areas of Practice courses. If you have any questions about

Course of Study
Qualifying Activities for Area of Practice Requirement:
(1) Successful completion of college courses.
(1)Successful completion of continuing
education courses, successful completion of correspondence, televised, Internet,
videotaped, and other short courses/tutorials
or attending seminars, workshops, or professional and technical presentations
at meetings, conventions or conferences presented/sponsored by a provider approved
under Rule 61G15-22.011, FAC.
(3) Teaching or instructing in (1) or (2) above.
However, teaching credit is valid for teaching a course or seminar for the
first time only. Teaching credit
does not apply to full-time faculty.
(4) Authoring published papers, articles,
books, or accepted licensee examination items for NCEES.
(5) Patents.
(6) Active participation in professional or technical societies.
Civic or trade organizations do not qualify under this provision. Credit for
this activity
requires that the licensee serve as an officer of the organization. PDH credits
are not
earned until the end of each year of completed service.
Conversion of other units of education credit for PDH units:
- 1 college
or unit semester hour credit is equal to 15 PDH.
- 1college or unit quarter
hour credit is equal to 10 PDH.
- 1 continuing education unit is equal to
10 PDH.
- 1 contact hour of professional development in course work, seminars,
or professional or technical presentations made at meetings, conventions,
or conferences
is equal
to 1 PDH or, if teaching, 2 PDH.
- Each published paper, article, or book
is equal to 10 PDH.
- Authoring accepted licensee examination items for NCEES
is equal to 2 PDH.
- Each patent is equal to 10 PDH.
- Active participation in professional
and technical societies as described in Rule 61G15-22.003(6). The maximum
credit to be allowed is 2 PDH for each
organization.
Continuing Education Courses in Laws and Rules:
(1) In order to comply with
the provisions of Section 471.017(3), F.S., licensees shall demonstrate professional
competency relative to Chapter 471, Florida
Statutes, and the Board’s rules, by either completing a continuing education
course, as detailed in Subsection (2) below, by attending a board meeting at
which disciplinary
hearings are conducted as detailed in Subsection (3) below, or by approval
of the Board as a consulting engineer providing assistance to the Board in
the performance
of its duties, as detailed in Subsection (4) below.
(2) Successful completion
of a course of continuing education for laws and rules of the Board which must
consist of a minimum of four (4) PDH’s
in laws and rules of the Board.
(3) Four PDH’s in laws and rules of the
Board may be obtained by attending one full day, regardless of actual length,
or eight (8) hours of a board meeting
at which disciplinary hearings are conducted by the Board of Professional Engineers
and complying with the following:
(a) The licensee must sign in with staff
of the Board before the meeting day begins.
(b) The licensee must remain in
continuous attendance.
(c) The licensee must sign out with staff of the Board
at the end of the meeting day or at such other earlier time as affirmatively
authorized by the Board.
A licensee may receive PDH credit in laws and rules
for attending the board meeting
only if he or she is attending on that date solely for that purpose. He or
she may not receive such credit if appearing at the Board meeting for another
purpose.
(d) Members of the Board of Professional Engineers shall receive four
(4) PDH’s
in laws and rules of the Board for conducting these meetings.
(4) All consultant
engineers used by the Board in the resolution of Board business, including
rule making and prosecution of discipline cases and complaints, may
receive credit for four (4) PDH’s in laws and rules of the Board by specific
approval of the Board of a written list of such consultants during each biennium.
Proof
of Completion Demonstrating Compliance:
In order to demonstrate compliance,
licensees must execute a signed statement at any time during the biennium and
submit said statement to the Board office
at that time or by accompanying their renewal form with said statement and
return it to the Board office with their renewal. For each qualifying activity
listed,
the following information must be included on the statement:
- Title of activity and a description.
- The date, location and provider of
the activity.
- The area of practice to which the activity applies.
- The number of PDH credits
claimed for each activity.
In addition, the Board shall use attendance information submitted by the provider
to determine whether licensees can demonstrate compliance.
Recordkeeping:
It is the licensee’s responsibility to maintain sufficient
records to demonstrate completion of qualifying professional development hours
for at
least two licensure
cycles (four years).

disciplinary
cases are considered. At least seven days advance notice of the intent
to
attend the disciplinary case session must be given to the board, and
the licensee
must check in with board staff prior to the beginning of the disciplinary
proceedings. A maximum of 4 hours will be allowed during a renewal
cycle. Credit hours shall
be awarded on an hour for hour basis up to a maximum of 4 hours.
Any
course approved for the continuing education requirements for persons certified
under Chapter 468, Part XII, F.S., which meet the criteria
for course content
approved by this board, shall be accepted for continuing education
for renewal under this rule, for person who are certified under Part
XII
or who are certified
or registered under this part.
The board shall grant a maximum of
four (4) hours of continuing education credit, on an hour for hour basis,
to any licensee who participates
as member of any
technical advisory committee to the Florida Building Code Commission
within the Department of Community Affairs.
Credit may be earned
for assisting in exam development. Notwithstanding any of the foregoing provisions,
the board shall grant continuing
education credits
to any licensee who participates in exam development with the
approval of the board upon submission of documentation of such participation
by the Department
or a testing provider under contract with the Department. One
(1)
continuing education credit hour shall be given for every fifty
(50) minute clock
hour of
participation in exam development. Exam development specifically
includes all
exam question development activities and workshops on task analyses.
Any course approved for the continuing education requirements for persons
certified under Chapter 489, Parts I and II, F.S.,
shall
be accepted
for continuing education
for renewal under this rule.
Proof of Completion: Chapter 455,
Florida Statutes, now requires the Department of Business and Professional
Regulation to monitor
all continuing
education
activities of licensees. Therefore, providers will now be
required to submit student rosters
electronically to the department. This initiative ensures
100% compliance through monitoring. If proof of required continuing
education is
not submitted prior
to renewal of the license, the licensee will be denied renewal.
Exceptions: A person is not required to complete any continuing
education requirements for the year in which a certificate
or a registration
is initially issued.
Any person who obtains a certificate
or a registration more than 12 months prior to the end of a biennial period
is required
to
complete seven hours
of approved
continuing education as a condition of the first renewal
of the certificate or registration.

Of the 14 CEH, at least:
- 2 must be in the area of accessibility
- 2 must be in the area of FL Laws & Rules
(other than accessibility) *The Florida Advanced Building code is not required
for the renewal period ending November 30, 2007.
- All courses must be approved by at least one of the following:
- The Board
of Building Code Administrators and Inspectors (BCAI)
- The Florida Construction
Industry Licensing Board (FCILB)
- The Florida Electrical Contractors Licensing
Board (ECLB)
- The Board of Architecture and Interior Design (BOAID)
Course of Study: The
course(s) must be approved by the Board of Building Code Administrators and
Inspectors (BCAI), the Construction Industry
Licensing Board
(CILB), the Electrical Contractors Board (ECLB), or the Board
of Architecture and Interior Design (BOAID).
The following courses and course sponsors satisfy the continuing
education requirement:
- Courses conducted by an accredited university,
college, junior college or community college, or by an official government
agency
or the military;
and
- Courses conducted by a recognized national or state trade
or civil organization, any business association, private
entity, or person provided the following conditions are met:
- The course shall be registered with the board; and
- The instructor must be
a certified building code administrator, inspector, plans examiner,
professional engineer, registered
architect, certified contractor, or a substantially similar
authority in the field qualified as prescribed in section
61G19-9.005, Florida Administrative Code.
Of the required 14 continuing education hours, up to 3 hours
credit may be earned by attending a disciplinary meeting
of the board.
Licensees must attend
the complete
agenda of disciplinary cases to receive the continuing
education credit hours. Licensees must give at least 7 days advance
notice to the board
of their
intention to attend the disciplinary case session.
Licensees must check in with the clerk
of the board prior to the disciplinary proceedings.
A maximum of 3 hours
of continuing education credit per biennium may be
earned in this manner. Licensees
will not
be credited for attending any disciplinary case session
in which the licensee is a party.
Of the required 14 continuing education
hours, up to 7 hours credit may be earned by attending a meeting
of
the Florida
Building Commission
within
the
Department
of Community Affairs, or any of the meetings of any
technical committee of the commission. Certificate holders will
be responsible for
obtaining and
maintaining satisfactory proof of attendance at such
meetings as specified in Rule 61G19-9.008.
Proof of Completion: Each
certificate holder shall provide to the board proof
of completion of the core curriculum
courses, or passing
the
equivalency test of the Building Code Training
Program established by s.553.841,
within 2 years
after commencement of the program.
- Course sponsors
must maintain the following records with respect
to each course:
- The time, date, and place each course
is conducted;
- The name, address, and qualifications
of each instructor who teaches any portion of
the course and whether each instructor has been
approved by
the board;
- The name, address, and certificate
number of each person who registered for the
course;
- The original sign-in sheet used at the site of the course to register
people attending
each
course. Course sponsors
must
require every
person to print
their name and license number, and
sign their name on the course sign-in sheet;
- The course
syllabus used for each course; and
- Certificates
of completion for each person completing a
course containing the name and the license
number of the
person
who completed the course.
Course
sponsors must maintain the required records for
each course at least 3
years following the
date the course
is
completed.
Upon request the by the
board, each course sponsor shall provide
the
board with
copies of any required
records.
